The making of a difference

The making of a difference

I must confess I hated beer.

That coloured water with a slightly bitter taste.

It was my wife the one who was into beer. She would spend every Saturday and Sunday afternoon with her friends, chilling and drinking beer in the local pub.

Meanwhile, I would watch a movie ( sometimes two), waiting for her to come back…with two or three beers more than I’d like her to had had.

My job changed my relationship with beer.

Visiting breweries was part of my job, and those lovely guys called brewers would insist on making me drink their potions.

I’m a polite person, so I drank.

Then, the magic happened.

I discovered a different world to the one I knew.

Beers came with so many colours and tastes. They were delicious to my palate.

I started to be charmed by this delicious crafted beverage.

By this time, I had developed a close friendship with some brewers, and they started to vent out.

About their challenge to get to the end user.

About the big commissions that middlemen take.

About their difficulties to make the ends meet.

And I knew how big the investment in the brewing equipment was. And I knew it was too much for many of them.

Listen.

The idea started taking shape.

What if I could help them sell their beer?

What if I built a marketplace where every small brewer could go sell his beer?

I wanted to make a difference on those people’s lives.

Only Craft Beer was born.

Nine loyal breweries started with us back in April.

Today, over 35 breweries are selling their beers in Only Craft Beer.

Now.

You can make a difference too.

When you buy at Only Craft Beer, you are buying directly from the brewery.

The brewer packs your beers and get them ready to collect.

(And that’s the reason why you pay as many shipping costs as many breweries you buy from).

Small breweries employ 47% of people working in the beer industry.

The money you spend on beers stays in a local area. Stays in Australia.

And that’s good.

That means our country grows.

Better schools. Better health care system. Better aged care facilities. More infrastructures. More parks. You name it.

When you buy VB, Carlton, Pure Blonde, Matilda Bay, James Squire, XXXX, Heineken, Corona…you’re buying from large multinational companies.

Your money goes mainly to overseas.

Money goes to Belgium or Japan. It doesn’t stay in Australia.

That’s an opportunity for Japanese and Belgians. Not for Australians.

So.
